ANCHORING MEMORY TO LAND.

(2025) Bow Arts, London.

In a period of political and environmental instability, where people are forced to leave their homes and communities... How will we remember and archive the places that we love? In the future, how will we remember the plants, the mountains, the birds?

Mimi's practice is informed by her frequent work with refugees and asylum seekers on borders in Calais, Greece and Estonia. Her engraving concept was developed during a residency in Estonia with NART, working on the Russian-Estonian border to produce a piece of public art. Tracing the fleeting and fading shadows of nature in Narva captured a moment in time, anchoring memories into the land.
