Creative workshops.
We received funding from Manchester City Council to lead a series of creative workshops with people using foodbanks across Central and North Manchester. Our first block of six workshops took place from July to September 2021 and worked with a group of individuals experiencing food insecurity.
We had workshops around visual storytelling, getting people to actively listen to each other and translate their stories into artworks. We had collaging workshops in partnership with STAT Magazine, creating poems cut out of newspapers (and learning Farsi from one of our participants!). We also ran one session online to ensure participants could be digitally included in our programme. This workshop was lead by Hannah, a young person on her Arts Emergency work experience placement with Get It Done, and she taught the group about her illustration practice, and we had a chance to practice mindfulness through drawing.
Below are some images of the workshops. In the upcoming months, we are looking to run another block of six sessions.
